Alumafandango in Jackson, CA, Sept. 20–25, 2016
About an hour’s drive southeast from Sacramento, historic Jackson in Amador County might be on your “yet to explore” list. There’s much to see, learn, and do in the area.
Deep in the California gold country, Jackson has a significant mining history and is home to the famous Kennedy Gold Mine. More than 5,000 feet deep, the Kennedy site is one of the deepest gold mines in North America.
Alumafandango 2016 is also located in the lovely Amador County Wine region in the California Sierra Foothills. Numerous tasting rooms and vineyards are open to visitors among the thousands of acres of grapevines in the area.
The little town of Jackson was once razed by fire following the Gold Rush, but many of the buildings and original walls still stand from just after that day in 1862. These Civil War-era buildings are well preserved and now on the National Register of Historic Places. (Photographers, bring your camera!)
The first Serbian Orthodox Church in the United States is in Jackson, as well as notable pioneer and Jewish cemeteries, and a county museum that was once the home of legislator-turned-Forty-Niner Armstead C. Brown.
The area also offers exciting and scenic recreational opportunities like hiking, biking, and water sports, or you might want to simply relax poolside at our park. That’s right: “our” park! We’ve reserved the entire top-rated Jackson Rancheria campground during Alumafandango. That means attendees have exclusive use of the pool, the mini-golf, the grills, and all the common spaces—everyone you meet at the event will be part of our Airstream community.
We’re hard at work planning a fun-filled week of offsite adventures and tours of the area, Airstreamer and photo seminars, an ice cream social and barbecue, bike rides, and of course, daily happy hours, abundant prizes, and a few surprises.
Don’t miss out—the location is limited, the campground will fill up soon, and sites are selling fast—so save your space now. (Register and order your event logo t-shirt before March 31, 2016 get your Alumafandango tee for only $10!)
